Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochus VIII, (121-96 B.C.), first reign (117-115 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.704 grams), Antioch mint, obv. diademed head of Antiochus VIII to right, fillet border, rev. Zeus Uranius with crescent above standing to left draped, holding star and sceptre, on right, **BASILEWS and **ANTIOCOU and to right **EPI FANOUS, to left IE/A, to right O, all within wreath, (cf.S.7143, SNG Spaer 2496 [Pl.159], Newell SMA 368). Off centred on obverse, otherwise nearly extremely fine, scarce.
