Attica, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.662 grams), issued 147-146 B.C., (Thompson date) but probably 115-4 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, grape bunch to right, A on amphora, legend across **A QE, to left **MHT ROD ROS, ANTI FAN HS, MIL TIA DHZ, ME* below, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, Thompson 631a-b [same obverse die], example in London and The Hague). Slightly off centred obverse, otherwise very fine and rare.
