Severus Alexander, (A.D. 222-235), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 222-231, (20.7 grams), obv. laureate bust of Severus Alexander to right draped and cuirassed, around IMP CAES M AVR SEV ALEXANDER AVG, rev. around ANNONA AVGVSTI, S C across base, Annona standing to left holding corn ears over modius and a cornucopiae, (S.2244 [£75 F], RIC 548, C.35). Dark green patina, nearly extremely fine and rare.

Ex Spink & Son, London, May 1944 (25/-) and sold August 1950 to Cornelius C. Vermeule III, whose collection was sold in Triton III (loy 1719 part) for the benefit of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, with two tickets.
