Severus Alexander, (A.D.222-235), silver denarius, issued 232, Rome mint, (2.676 grams), obv. laureate bust to right, draped, around IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG, rev. P M TR P VI COS II P P, the emperor sacrificing out of a patera to a tripod, holding a scroll, (cf.S.7899, RIC 70, RSC 325). Brilliant as struck, good extremely fine, a scarce type and rare in this condition.
