Caracalla, (A.D. 198-217), AE sestertius, issued 210-213, Rome mint, (26.70 grams), obv. laureate bust draped and cuirassed to right of Caracalla, around M AVREL ANTONI]NVS PIVS AVG GERM, rev. Aesculapius standing facing head to left, holding snake-entwined staff, Telesphorus at his feet to left, globe to right, around P M TR P XVIII IMP III, COS IIII P P, S C across field, (S.6933 [same reverse die as illustrated p.513], RIC 538a, C.329). Attractive brown patina, extremely fine and very rare in this condition.
