WELLINGTON, Peninsula Battles, commemorative halfpenny, 1812, laureate military bust left/legend (Davis 101). A proof struck in silver, edge grained right. Lightly toned, FDC and rare.
Purchased from Spink in 1987. These were issued in sufficient quantity for them to be accepted as current for eighteenpence or one shilling and sixpence (see Whitting p.48).
