Chandragupta II, (c.A.D. 375-414), gold stater, (7.764 grams), lion slayer type, BMC Class Ie, obv. king standing to right, wearing waistcloth with sash behind, shooting with bow at lion which he tramples with one foot, legend around, rev. goddess Lakshmi seated to left astride a lion, holding a lotus, places left hand on lion's haunch, legend around, (cf.M.4814, Altekar Bayana hoard cf.plate XVI, 14-15, XVII 1-10; cf.BMC 119-120 [Pl.IX, 9-10]). Good very fine and very rare.
