Sicily, Acragas (Agrigentum), (c.520-472 B.C.), silver didrachm, Jenkins Group I, (8.528 grams), obv. eagle with closed wings standing to right, [AKRAC ANTO**S*] around, rev. crab on plain broad flan, (cf.S.708, SNG ANS 916 [same dies], SNG Cop.-, SNG Ash.-). Minor surface marks, otherwise nearly very fine and a very rare eagle to right for this the earliest type.

This lot and the other Sicilian didrachms in this sale come from a very important find containing only didrachms. The find has not been previously recorded, all are illustrated and are noted in this sale for future publication. The hoard was buried late in the 5th century BC.
