Description

Mark Antony, (Autumn 42 B.C.), silver denarius, Epirus mint?, (3.330 grams), obv. head of Mark Antony to right, M ANTONI [IMP] around, rev. distyle temple containing facing bust of Sol on disc, around III [VIR] R P C, (S.1467 [£275 VF], Cr.496/1, Syd.1168, C. Mark Antony 12). Worn and weak in places, otherwise very good - fine and rare.

The reverse seems to refer to the campaign of Antony in Greece against Brutus and Cassius. Crawford has determined that less than 30 obverse dies were used for this type.
