Sicily, Syracuse, (c.486-479 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.650 grams), obv. fast walking quadriga driven to right by bearded male charioteer, Nike flying right crowning horses, line border, rev. **SUPA K OS IO N around to right, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, hair slightly waved and turned up behind under diadem of beads, four dolphins around, (cf.S.913, Boehringer 197 [same dies No.V88/R136], SNG ANS 63 [same dies]). Attractive, toned, very fine and very rare.
Boehringer notes only two examples from these dies.
