Syria, Seleucis & Pieria, Antioch ad Orentem, Nero (A.D. 54-68), silver tetradrachm, (14.16 grams), obv. laureate head to r. of Nero, wearing aegis, rev. ETOYS BIP I (year 112 of Caesarian Era = A.D. 63-4), eagle standing to r., on thunderbolt, wings spread, palm branch in front (BMC. 198-200, cf.S.618). As struck, exceptional full portrait of Nero, good extremely fine, and very rare thus.

Antioch at this time was striking in good silver with a high standard of portraiture. This example provides a portrait of Nero as sharp and fine as possible to obtain.
