Sicily, Syracuse, (485-480 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.278 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer, Nike flying right crowning horses, rev. **SUPAKO S IO N around to right, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, hair waved and turned up behind under diadem of beads, four dolphins around, (cf.S.913, Boehringer 117 [obv.53/rev.42 same dies], Randazzo Hoard No.271 [This Coin]). Attractive even grey tone, well centred, very fine and a rare combination of dies.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 59 (lot 1811) and previously from the Randazzo Hoard (1980), published as ANS Num. Studies No.18. Boehringer note 7 specimens from these dies, four in private collections. This is the only coin from the Randazzo hoard from these dies. Probably less than 10 examples survive from these dies today.
