Cappadocia, Caesarea, Tranquillina, wife of Gordian III, (A.D. 238-244), AE 22, issued year 7 = 244, (6.915 grams), obv. draped bust of Tranquillina to right, around CAB TPANKV**LLINA* AVG, rev. six ears of corn bound together, around MHTP KAI B NE, ET Z across field at base, (S.3864, Syd. 618, BMC 350 (p.93), SNG von Aulock 6534, SNG Cop. 313). Punch mark in field, nearly very fine/fine and a rare ruler.

Ex Hesperia Art Bulletin XX, (no.122) and Cornelius C. Vermeule III Collection, sold in Triton III (lot 1672 part) for the benefit of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with his ticket.
