Yorkshire, Sheffield, S&C Younge & Co's one shilling and sixpence or eighteenpence, 1812 (D.40). Beautifully toned even grey, virtually mint state and extremely rare.
Ex W.J. Noble Collection, Noble Numismatics sale 58 (lot 1831) and previously from Glendining's London Sale, 3 November 1993 'The Property of a Gentleman', (lot 167, and realised five hundred and forty pounds). Probably the finest known of the several known examples of this denomination.
