REPUBLIC, Anonymous Series, (c.280-269 B.C.), AE cast sextans, (54.32 g), obv. Dioscuri head right in conical cap two pellets behind, rev. other Dioscuri head to left in conical cap two dots behind, (S.552, Cr.18/5, Syd.19). Edge break, usual rough surface, fine - very fine and very scarce.

This is a cast Romano-Campanian issue, with a thickness of 12mm, stuck to the reduced liberal standard with an initial weight for the as of 324 grams and a sextans of 54 grams by c.269 B.C. By 217 the semi-liberal standard of an as was 132 grams.
