FAUSTINA SENIOR, wife of Antoninus Pius, (died A.D.141), AE sestertius, (26.30 grams), issued 147, Rome mint, obv. draped bust to right of Faustina, around DIVA FAVSTINA, rev. Vesta standing to left sacrificing over alter, holding patera and holding sceptre, around CONSE CRATIO, S C across, (S.4622, BMC 1529, RIC 1130, C.162). Large flan with golden brown patina, nearly extremely fine/good very fine.
Ex Davissons Ltd, Auction Sale 13 Spring 2000, (lot 134) and previously from the Craikerode Collection c.1790's (Foundation of the British Museum Collection).
