SOUTH AUSTRALIAN COMPANY, sixpence, Kingscote, Kangaroo Island, June 1st 1836, No 418, imprint Chapman & Co., Cornhill, London, entered C.S.Hare, signed Samuel Stephens, Colonial Manager. Numerous veritcal folds and minute pin-holes otherwise nearly extremely fine and excessively rare, the only example known (lot 2684 Sale 36 ) in private hands, the other was purchased by the ANZ archive. Of outstanding historical importance and rarity.

Ex John Pettit Collection, Sale 71 (lot 2894). The South Australian Company later traded as the South Australian Banking Company and the Bank of South Australia. The Kingscote notes were the first of South Australia.
