THORNTHWAITE, J.C., Sydney silver threepence, 1854 the plain three without crown, (A.-, Heyde 250/5 = R10 [of highest rarity]). Toned and nearly very fine and excessively rare.

This type not in Andrews was first published by Heyde from his specimen, which was fine with surface knocks. A pattern strike of these dies occurs on a copper halfpenny blank, which was sold in Spink Australia Auctions Sale 29 (lot 2940). This is probably the third known example of the silver threepence.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
