ROYAL YACHT CLUB, Tasmania, 22mm nickel token (not aluminium as noted by Harper) for threepence, a chit noted PUCK on both obverse and reverse, (NH 23/120, R7 rarity). Dark staining, nearly very fine and very rare.

The Royal Yacht Club formed in 1880 used this token to operate the Puck poker machine, the only machine of its type in Tasmania. This machine was used by this club and then was sold to the Civic Club in 1922. The machine was finally withdrawn from the Civic club in 1947, whereby the club imposed a levy on membership. See Noel G. Harper, 'Tasmanian Passes, Checks & Club Tokens' pp.16-17 and 51-3.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
