PERTHSHIRE, Doune, halfpenny, a ring punch countermark payable at Mrs. Somervills Down struck on a Charles Roe & Co., Macclesfield halfpenny token, 1790-2, (Davis 120)). The left half of countermark did not strike up otherwise good fine and very rare.

Ex Glendining's Sale 7 December 1983 (lot 396). The issuer is believed to have been Isobella Keir (d.1815) wife of William Sommervill, vintner and distiller (d.1793).
