BAJRANGGARH, Jai Singh, (A.D. 1797-1818), Jainagar mint, silver rupee, year 20 (1818), thick dumpy flan type, (KM.7; C.6a). Good very fine, scarce.

Ex Robert Senior, England by private treaty (Å“40). The issue is discussed by Lingen and Wiggins, in Coins of the Sindhias (p.22) who note that Jai Singh, lost this state in 1816 (year 18) to his general Filose, and consequently probably had this piece and others of year 19 struck at another place whilst engaged in a guerrilla warfare. He died of cholera in 1818 the year of issue of this coin.
