Ex. Second coin from David Hendin with his ticket, other from CCE 1988. This is the most sought after mint of all the Roman and Greek Imperial coins struck in Palestine. It was rebuilt by the Roman emperor Hadrian as a camp for the Tenth Roman Legion, and was established upon the Temple Mount area of Jerusalem. It was also renamed from its old name Jerusalem to the new name Aelia Capitolina. The establishing of a city on this Jewish holy spot, the building a temple to Jupiter Capitolinus on the original Jewish temple remains was one of the causes of the Bar Kochba War (the Second Revolt). Once the city was named Aelia Capitolina, Jews were forbidden to even approach it. Hadrian populated the city with mostly legionay veterans. The city issued coins from late in the reign of Hadrian until the reign of Valeria. All issues are scarce and some types are very rare.
