INDIA, Dynasty of South-west Deccan, The Chalukyas of Badami, period of Mangalesa (597-610), gold pagoda, (3.8 grams), obv. early temple, with a simple lintel surmounted by a single horizontal step as superstructure, rev. sceptre between two lamps, whisk to right, (M.256 [£1250]). Die crack on reverse, poorly struck, otherwise very fine/fine, extremely fine.

Mitchiner [p.131], values this coin very highly noting the find of a small hoard of 16 coins with numerous die varieties. This example possibly comes from this hoard.
