INDIA, South Karnataka coinage of the inscribed Hoysala period, Vishnuvardhana as conqueror of Nolambavadi, (c.1110-1117), gold pagoda, (4.1 grams), obv. Sardula (mythical lion) to right with deity above, rev. Tamil legend, Sri No/nambavadi/gonda (M.202-3, M. [1979 704). Good very fine, very rare.

A number of examples of pagodas are cited by Mitchiner (South India Part I) including an example in the Spink - Taisei Sale 9 (lot 207).
