EGYPT, Kingdom of, Ptolemy II, (285-246 B.C.), AE 42, (68.69 grams), Alexandria mint, issued 253-249 B.C., obv. diademed head of Zeus Ammon to right, rev. eagle to left with closed wings, standing on thunderbolt, in front cornucopiae, around **BASILEWS PTOLEMAIOU, between legs **DI*, (cf.S.7782, Sv. 180, SNG Cop. 199, BMC 106-8). Attractive red and green-brown patina, very fine, scarce.
