CILICIA, Celenderis, silver stater, c.400 B.C., (10.18 grams), obv. naked rider with whip in right hand seated sideways on horse prancing to right from which he is about to dismount, dotted border, rev. goat kneeling to left, looking back, above KEA, dotted exergue line, (cf.S.5533, BMC 25 = Sotheby's Montague II (1897), 294 (£3.16.0), SNG Lockett 3035, cf.SNG France 2, 75). Obverse struck from a rusty die and slightly off centre, otherwise extremely fine with attractive medium grey patina, very rare.
