SIERRA LEONE, Macauley & Babington medallic tokens or tickets, (1814) European clasping hands with a negro/ We Are Bretheren in exergue Slave Trade Abolished By Great Britain 1807, reverse arabic inscription, in copper (36mm) struck by the Soho Mint, Birmingham, obverse by G.F.Pidgeon, reverse by John Phillip (V.1)(2 - one well worn, other nearly very fine) also a brilliant copper proof striking (16.9 grams)(V.1a). Nearly fine - FDC (3).

The first two acquired in the 1970's, the last ex Spink Sale 31 (lot 558).
