ANOTHER, similar to the previous but different dies, inscribed 'SUB CONSTABLE, GEORGE GUEST/VIT.OB SERV./D.P./SOC.REG.HVM./29 March 1855' and without the designer initials L.P. under wreath. With ribbon and bar suspension, toned extremely fine, sold with photocopy of report of case 15,651.
Ex Spink Sale 8 (lot 638). The recipient, a policeman on duty on the Quay, saved a boy from drowning after he fell from the London steamer into the river near the Quay at Cork, Ireland. Later that same night the recipient saved a comrade and a female who had attempted suicide in the river near one of the arches of St. Patrick's Bridge.
