JOHN HENLEY, Orator, 1726, admission ticket in copper (35mm) (M.I.465/75; D&W.79/240). Good extremely fine and rare.
Ex Cokayne Collection and from Baldwin in 1993. Henley preached from 'The Oratory' in Butchers Row, Lincoln's Inn Fields, having been deprived of his earlier cure. Being of 'consumate vanity' he like to relate his oratory to the power of Joshua who stayed the sun by the quality of his eloquence.
