SOLD $220

(COVENT GARDEN) TWO SHILLING GALLERY, 1793 in copper (34mm) (D&W.41/435; M.5701). Very fine and very rare.

Ex Alec Clunes Collection and Spink Sale 46 (lot 512 part). The rise in prices of most tickets including the one shilling to two shillings for the Upper Gallery in 1792 to help cover re-building costs caused the Old Prices (O.P.) riots. Only the gallery price was not restored.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
