L. VALERIUS ACISCULUS, (45 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.68 grams), obv. Apollo Soranus to right, star above, ACISCVLVS and pick-axe behind, rev. owl with helmeted human head (Minerva) walking right carrying two shields and spear, [L.]VALER[IVS] in exergue, (S.-, Cr.474/2b, Syd.999a, B. Valeria 18 [£140], cf.Spink 9/80 Num. Circ. [£365]). Attractive grey patina, slightly off centred on the reverse, good very fine and rare.

Ex. Dolphin Coins, London, November 15, 1986 and Stanley Gibbons November 15 1978. Crawford has determined that less than 30 obverse dies were used for this type.
