C. FUNDANIUS, (c.101 B.C.), silver denarius, obverse brockage, Rome mint, (3.89 grams), obv. Roma helmeted head right, E behind, rev. incuse version of obverse, (S.-, Cr.326/1, Syd.583), another a quinarius, obv. laureate head of Jupiter to right, rev.Victory to right erecting trophy, captive kneeling at base, (S.242, Cr.326/2, Syd.584). Light grey tone, good fine - very fine. (2)

Ex Spink Australia, August 27, 1977 for the first coin and Christie's London, May 9, 1978 (lot 5). Only 57 dies were used for the denarius as calculated by Crawford. The quinarius denomination was revived in 101 B.C., its first appearance for more than a century.
