L. CAECILIUS METELLUS DIADEMATUS, (128 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.91 grams), obv. Roma helmeted head right, * behind, rev. ROMA in exergue, Pax in biga to right, elephant's head with bell attached below horses, (S.-, Cr.262/1, Syd.496). Even gold and grey patina, good very fine and rare.

Ex. Dr. John Sawhill Collection and James Madison University Collection, Stack's New York, March 15, 1979 (lot 328 part). Only 31 obverse dies are used with this moneyer according to Crawford.
