DANISH INDIA, Tranquebar, Christian IV, (1620-1648), lead cash (kas), c.1625-1640, obv. DAN/NSBO/RG, rev. BEW/INTHE/BER, (Gray -, KM.3). Very fine and very rare.

Bewintheber is Dutch for Governor, administrator, overseer. In the charter of 1616 the word is used for overseer. In a missive of 24th March 1630 from Christian IV to Jorgen Vind the word means managers. Perhaps the legend refers to the company.
