Stars and U.S. Decoration unnamed others engraved, late issue. U.S. Award in case of issue. Very fine. Trio: Defence Medal; British War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal. NX79756 W.T.Johnson. Medal of Freedom C.G. 15 April 1948: 'Flying Officer Alan T.Stewart, 264561, Royal Australian Air Force. For meritorious service which has aided the United States in the prosecution of the war against Japan in New Guinea, from 29 August 1943 to 16 February 1944. Flying Officer Stewart, as officer in charge of aircraft identification in all fighter sectors of the V Fighter Command, was largely responsible for establishing a system of informing fighter sectors without delay of the movements of friendly airplanes and of expediting vital information concerning enemy aircraft activities. His methods of identification, which were later used by many identification sections, were responsible for the success of the V Fighter Command in intercepting the enemy. Flying Officer Stewart's efficiency in setting up identification units and his ingenuity in developing the most effective methods of identification contributed greatly to the success of our operations against the enemy in New Guinea.' Medal entitlement certificate for W.T.Johnston and Scots College (Sydney) Athletics Assoc. Copper Prize Medal engraved 'Shot putting open Ch'p won by W.T.Johnson 1929' in Angus and Coote case of issue.
