PERSIS, Kingdom of, Darius I, (2nd century B.C.), silver drachm, (3.796 grams), obv. Darius head to right with short beard, wearing satrapal head-dress surmounted by a crescent, rev. fire-altar with superstructure as stepped battlements Ahura-Mazda hovering above, king standing to right, bird perched on standard, Aramaic legend in exergue, (S.6196, BMC 12 [p.205, pl.XXXI, 5]). Nearly very fine and rare.
