MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.074 grams), Macedon 'Amphipolis' mint, issued 323-320 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin without border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, cornucopiae to left, **BASILEWS* to right, **ALEXANDROU above left, (cf.S.6713, Price 108, cf.BMC 108c, M.650, Demanhur 1043-1099). Well centred with high relief, surface scratches and pitting, otherwise very fine and scarce.
