THRACE, Island off Thrace, Thasos, (c.510-490 B.C.), silver stater, (9.074 grams), obv. naked ithyphallic Satyr (archaic style) in a kneeling running attitude carrying off protesting nymph, rev. quadripartite incuse square, (S.1357 [£400], Asyut Group cf.100-126, Weber 2500). Very fine with good facial detail, several minor striking cracks on edge, very scarce.

Asyut hoard suggests the chronology to be before 485 B.C.
