MOESIA INFERIOR, Marcianopolis, Commodus (A.D. 177-192), AE 24, (7.972 grams), obv. bare headed bust of Commodus to right, around AY KAI **L AURH KOMOD*OC, rev. the Three Graces or (Charites) facing, around, MAPKI**ANOPOLLEITWN*, dotted border, (cf.S.1925, cf.BMC 56, Pick 540 [6 noted]). Attractive green patina, good fine and rare.

A most interesting reverse type. The 'Charites' in statuary form are represented in various museums throughout the world.
