SICILY, Gela, (c.430-425 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.160 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven left by male charioteer holding reins, wreath above, rev. forepart of man headed bull to right with short beard, weakly above **GELAS, long necked bird below, (cf.S.795, Jenkins 400, obv. 83, rev. 169 [notes nine examples known of these dies], SNG Cop 267). Has porosity in fields, surface scratches, but from a distinctive pair of dies, nearly very fine and a scarce die combination.
