MAMLUK COINAGE, al-Nasir Nasir abu al-Sa`adat al din Faraj, first reign, (A.H. 801-808) (A.D. 1399-1405), gold heavy dinar, (10.11 grams), Al Qahira mint (Cairo, Egypt), A.H. [804] = A.D. 1401-1402, obv. & rev. six lines of legend with various symbols in the field, (A.977, cf.Balog 616, the dies differ from those listed in Balog, but are the same dies as other known dated examples). Weak in places, otherwise very fine and rare for this date.
