THAILAND, The King Rama V's Coronation medal, issued 1873, silver 65mm, (126 grams), obv. king Rama V monogram within legend 'Coronation of King Chulalongkorn, Year of the Cock, Fifth Year of the Decade, CS 1235', rev. the State Coat of Arms a crowned mantled and supported arms, (Thailand Treasury 'Medals of the Rattanakosin Era' p.33). Attractive grey tone, extremely fine and rare.

This medal was issued to commemorate the Coronation of King Rama V who had ascended the throne in 1868 at the age of 15, the coronation was held on October 16, 1873 on the King's coming of age. A similar example in Taisai-Baldwin-Gillio Sale 24 (Feb. 27, 1997. lot 474).
