ITALY, Calabria, Tarentum (Taras) under Hannibal, (212-209 B.C.), silver reduced nomos, (3.506 grams), obv. warrior on horseback to right, wearing helmet and cuirass, holding filleted palm branch in his right hand, beneath horse traces of **SOKAN NAS*, rev. Phalanthos, naked astride dolphin to left, holdin cantharus in hand, trident in other hand, eagle with spread wings to left behind, **TA PAS* below, (cf.S.383, Vl.985 [same dies], SNG ANS 1271 [same dies]). Extremely fine and rare.
