SPAIN, The Barcids in Spain, Carthago Nova, (c.228 B.C.), silver shekel, (7.304 grams), obv. male head to left looking upwards, dotted border, rev. prow of galley to right, with pendant flying, dolphin to right and two dots in exergue, dotted border, (S.6559 [£4500], Robinson, [Essays Mattingly] 4 (c) [p.49, Plate II], Villaronga class II, No.19 [same obverse die, obv.14, rev.-], CNH 5 [p.64]). Bright, with obverse and reverse graffito, otherwise good fine and very rare.

Ex Giessener Munzhandlung, Auction Sale 96, June 7, 1999 (lot 20). Probably the male head on the obverse is Hasdrubal.
