SICULO-PUNIC, mint of the camp, (c.320-310 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.842 grams), obv. wreathed head of Persephone to right, wearing triple pendant earring and necklace, four dolphins swimming around, rev. horse's head to right, palm tree behind, Punic legend, 'S'MMHNT' below, border of dots, (cf.S.6434, Brussels Hirsch Collection 837 [same dies], Consul Weber Sale Hirsch No.21, 16th Nov. 1908, [lot 4669, same dies], Jenkins SNR 56, [Series 3a] 176 [same dies, O51/R156]). Bright, with full flan, extremely fine and very rare.

Ex Harlen J. Berk Ltd., Buy or Bid Sale, 109, June 18, 1999 (lot 161). This obverse die is unique to the series in that the obverse faces to the right and only exists for this die type. The reverse die has the head to the right, this and two other dies give the reverse legend 'S'MMHNT' which is also unique to the series.
