MARY, (1553-1558), fine sovereign of thirty shillings, Tower mint, 1553, (15.480 grams), m.m. pomegranate, obv. Mary seated on ornate and decorated throne holding orb and sceptre, portcullis below, rev. royal arms of Tudor rose, double annulet stops, (S.2488, N.1956). Very attractive round coin, with slight weakness on face, otherwise extremely fine and very rare in this condition.
