BANK OF VAN DIEMEN'S LAND, Hobart Town, unissued notes of early 20th century printing, all on printed forms for threepence, sixpence and shilling, Hobart Town, believed to be engraved by Thomas Bock, dated 182-, black on white, on watermarked paper dated 1900, Type 2 original issue 1826, with tree and wheat bushel as a vignette scene upper left, (Vort-Ronald figure [P.108-112, p.110]. Very fine and very rare. (3)

Ex Spink & Son (Australia) Sale 3, (lot 52). The notes as illustrated were printed on one sheet but since that sale the sheet has been cut up making the three notes. The sheet was withdrawn at that sale because it was discovered the watermark was dated 1900, indicating a later printing, even though it was from the original plates.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
