Lot 3036    Session 9 (4.30pm Thursday)    World Banknotes

Estimate $150
Bid at live.noble.com.au
SOLD $500

(JERSEY), Great Britain, Bank of England, one pound, London, issued for Jersey with light blue cross in centre of the note, issued 1948-9, Peppiatt signature, a run of nine notes E 28B 374211-9, (cf.P.369a). Uncirculated and very rare, the largest run probably in existence.

This variety although not noted in Pick or Duggleby is an important variant with this cross and probably made this way to indicate the movement of notes from the Channel Islands back into Britain in this immediate post-war and black-market period in England.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
