ANCIENT GREEK SILVER, Sicily, Gela, (c.490/85-480/75 B.C.), silver didrachm, (7.184 grams), obv. naked horseman wearing crested helmet, galloping to right, brandishing a spear, held in right hand, rev. forepart of man headed bull (the river god Gelas), to right with long beard, to right **GELA S, (cf.S.713, Jenkins 44, obv. 13', rev. 19 [notes only 5 examples known from these dies]); Italy, Croton, (510-480 B.C.), silver stater, (6.92 grams), obv. Delphic tripod with stork and qPO, rev. incuse Delphic tripod, (cf.S.256, SNG Cop.1759); Egypt, Kingdom of Ptolemy I, (323-283 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.23 grams), Alexandria mint, obv. Ptolemy I, rev. eagle standing on thunderbolt, in front **S*, (cf.S.7773, Sv.214, SNG Cop.47); Ionia, Ephesus, Trajan, (A.D. 98-117), silver cistophorus, obv. head right laureate, rev. six ears of corn, (cf.S.974, BMC 710, RIC 717). All with some porosity or field damage, otherwise good - fine. (4)
