MAGNUS MAXIMUS, (A.D. 383-388), silver siliqua, Treveri mint, issued A.D. c.383-388 (1.964 grams), obv. pearl-diademed bust of Magnus Maximus to right, around DN MAG MAX IMVS PF AVG, rev. Roma seated facing, head to left on throne holding globe and reversed spear, VIRTVS RO MANORVM around, TRPS in exergue, (S.4201, RIC 84b, RSC.20b). Dark tone, chip in edge, nearly extremely fine and rare.

Ex Cornelius C. Vermeule III Collection, sold in Triton III (lot 1729 part) for the benefit of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with his ticket.
